Background Story: Giuliani allegedly funneled money from small obscure city agencies, as well as using city provided security, to check into upscale hotels in the Hamptons near the home of his future wife, the woman he was having an affair with. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1107/7073.html
More Information:
It's now been reported that Giuliani's mistress recieved personal police escorts, travel money, and even the use of detectives to walk her dog.
What else obscure city offices paid for: "Giuliani's Community Assistance Unit doled out pricey meals, Broadway tickets - even tickets to Yankee games - to victims of the melee that followed the Puerto Rican Day Parade in 2000. "
Giuliani's Reply: The original premise of the story is false and a political attack, it's an appropriate use of city funds, and those agencies budgets had excess money so we used it to pay for city debts.
It's one thing to have an affair, it's another to use the cities money to pay for it...especially when it comes from obscure agencies struggling to get funding.
Also - using money to quell negative public opinion (Puerto Rico Day melee)...questionable.
I hope that the news media will spend some more time covering Giuliani's terror link - something of vastly more importance.
